Busy day

Took off work today in hopes my exhaust would be here, but it didn't show up. Decided not to waste the day off and set out to do what I had planned to do last weekend, which is rearrange my desk in preparation for 3 additional monitors.

I did get a lot accomplished towards that goal, I currently am looking at all 6 monitors hooked up to my MSI P55-GD80 system, all functioning properly. Unfortunately, my camera is buried in a pile of stuff on my bed so no pics just yet.

Probably better that way so everything will be finished when I get around to doing a quick show and tell video. At least the hard work is done, getting all of the monitors mounted and arranged properly and also getting my system setup so that moving the mouse around gives the desired effect.

More on this later when I hopefully get this project finished...

GA-H55N-USB3 back from Gigabyte

For those who don't know the story, I bought this motherboard from NewEgg as an open box item and when I finally got around to setting it up I found that the ethernet port didn't work. It was too late to return it to NE for exchange so I returned it to Gigabyte under warranty.  I got the board back today and it seems that Gigabyte could find nothing wrong with the board and just returned it as it is.

The reason that Gigabyte could find nothing wrong with the board is b/c you can plug it into an ethernet cable and network preferences says it is working and you even get an IP address back from the DHCP server. Only problem is when you try to connect to a website, it won't connect and eventually will time out with a server not found error.

In any case, I have purchased this board http://bit.ly/iECIQE from NE in hopes I can finally get my mini ITX system up and running. I have also listed the GA-H55N-USB3 on the HQ-A B-S-T board in case any of you budding electronic techs out there would like to have a go at it.

Stranger things have happened.

Could it be? Is it possible? Will it actually happen? Of course I'm talking about the possibility of a weekend without rain, which (according to the current predictions), looks to be happening this coming weekend. Well, if that's the case, have I got plans!

Through an email last week, I was informed that the exhaust system I ordered for my Buick will be shipped on Monday (yesterday), which should put it here easily before the weekend as it only has to travel from one state over. I halfway expected to see it on the porch when I got home this evening, but it was not there. Surely no later than Thursday I would guess.

In addition, the license plate for my car arrived in the mail yesterday, so it is totally possible to see me tooling around town in the ol' Buick by next week! I have no plans for any extended trips soon, but it would be cool just to drive it around town a bit. Who knows?

Will be down for awhile

In a very short time I will be dismantling my current desk/computer setup to make room for my new monitors. So this short post will just be to remind everyone if you can't get me via email/twitter/facebook, etc. that this is the reason why.

Hopefully when I return, my new setup will be complete, with all 6 monitors functioning and a new, more ergonomic positioning of my desk and surrounding equipment. This is mostly due to me being lazy and not wanting to get up to walk across my room to use another workstation.

Okay, not totally for that reason, but it certainly won't hurt anything...
